Brilliant service that goes above and beyond what is needed. A dedicated tradesperson.
Wendy was excellent—friendly, professional, and thorough from the moment she arrived. She did a great job cleaning both of our log burner flues, went above and beyond to help replace damaged fire bricks, and left everything safe, clean, and tidy. I highly recommend her and will definitely use her again.
I had an excellent experience with Wendy—professional, punctual, and efficient, with clear communication throughout and everything left clean and protected. She did a great job, I highly recommend her, and I’ve already booked her again for next year.
I cannot recommend Wendy enough. She was so thorough, detailed what she was going to do, explained everything we asked and left everything immaculate, you would never have known our chimney had just been swept. We lit a fire that evening and it drew perfectly. Brill service. Thank you so much Wendy.
Superb job! Arrived and laid out plenty of sheets from the entrance to the fire so there was no trace of muck or foot prints. She explained what she was looking for and why certain steps had to be done. Very informative, friendly and professional. I will definitely be booking my future chimney sweeps in with Wendy the Sweep! Thank you

First-class, professional service at a very reasonable price. Everything was fully protected and left spotless, and the chimney camera gave great peace of mind about the flue liner. I will definitely be using Wendy again.

According to the Solid Fuel Association guidelines:
No! I use a powerful industrial vacuum cleaner designed specifically for chimney sweeping, along with sealable sheets and dust sheets. I take every precaution to ensure your home remains clean.
A standard chimney sweep usually takes between 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the condition of the chimney and the type of appliance. Bird nest removals may take longer.
Yes, I am trained to sweep all types of flues, including those for open fires, wood-burning stoves, multi-fuel stoves, inglenooks, and AGA/Rayburn cookers.
There is no need to move all your furniture! To make things easier, please clear any ornaments or fuel from the hearth and ensure the fire is completely cold (don't light it for at least 24 hours). I will provide all the necessary clean floor coverings and industrial-grade sheeting to protect your carpet and furnishings while I work.
A standard sweep and safety inspection usually takes between 45 minutes to an hour. However, if I am removing a bird’s nest or performing a detailed CCTV inspection, it may take a little longer. I always aim to be thorough rather than rushed to ensure your flue is perfectly clear.
Yes, absolutely. Being based in Pendle, I am very experienced with the traditional stone-built terraces common in our area. I have specialised rods and brushes designed to navigate the tight bends and tall stacks often found in our local Northern architecture.
Traditional sweeping uses hand-pushed brushes, whilst ‘power-sweeping’ uses a specialised tool that rotates at a controlled speed. It allows the rotary head to shape with your chimney and is very effective at removing stubborn deposits of creosote.
Wendy the Sweep is trained in manual and rotary/power sweeping methods.
If the HD camera inspection reveals cracks, a degraded liner, or a hazardous obstruction, Wendy the Sweep will show you the footage and explain exactly what it means for your safety.
You can also request a detailed written report, outlining any necessary repairs or recommending a local chimney technician if the work falls outside Wendy the Sweep’s scope.
Yes! Summer is actually the best time to book your sweep. It ensures any soot or debris from the previous winter is removed (which prevents "damp soot" smells during humid weather) and means your fire is ready to be lit as soon as the first cold snap hits without the long waiting lists found in autumn.
